Jane Ferrell

Jane is a highly experienced fundraising professional and consultant with 25 years of comprehensive development experience. She has an extensive background in institutional advancement from large academic medical centers to small non-profit agencies to independent schools. Jane brings on the job knowledge of grassroots fundraising for political action committees and professional membership organizations.  Her areas of expertise include annual giving and alumni relations, major gifts and capital campaigns.  She has worked with boards in strategic development planning and assessment in preparation for major fundraising drives and has guided them through the final process.

Jane has worked at various junctures with Vision Philanthropy Group president, Susan Holt, since 1988.  She joined VPG as a senior development consultant in 2013.

While the Director of Development and Major Gifts Officer for the Vanderbilt School of Medicine, Jane was a member of the management team for a $500 million campaign for Vanderbilt University. She was responsible for the Medical School’s annual giving program and implemented the first reunion giving program, the parents’ fund, and the medical student phone-a-thon for the Vanderbilt School of Medicine. Subsequently, she administered and directed a health-related program with a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Jane also managed an $8.4 million campaign for an independent girl’s school in Nashville.

In addition, she was instrumental in the formation of CHART (Campaign for a Healthy and Responsible Tennessee), served as Executive Director and administered a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant.  Spearheaded by the Tennessee chapters of the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, the American Lung Association and 40 other health and advocacy groups, this grassroots coalition worked to reduce the use of tobacco products among Tennesseans through statewide prevention programs and governmental policy change.
